Domicile helps you keep the complete record of your home. This summary describes current practice in plain language; it is not yet the finalized legal policy and will be replaced with counsel-reviewed copy before public launch.
What we collect
Account details you provide (name, email address, and an account identifier), the address and profile of each home you add, and the records you create — rooms, appliances, maintenance history, projects, contractors, documents, photos, and inventory. We do not use any of it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Sensitive codes and passwords
Values you store in the vault — gate codes, alarm codes, Wi-Fi passwords — are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and are never returned by the ordinary record APIs. Revealing one requires a fresh identity check and is written to an audit log you can review. Note that the encryption key is held by the Domicile service, so this is encryption at rest, not end-to-end encryption: our infrastructure is technically capable of decrypting these values, and we may be compelled to do so by valid legal process.
Device permissions
The mobile app asks for the camera only to scan appliance QR labels and capture documents, for Face ID or your device passcode only to unlock the app and confirm your identity before revealing a stored code, and for notifications only to remind you about maintenance you scheduled. Nothing is uploaded from your camera unless you save it to a record.
Your control
Your home data is yours. You can export it, transfer it as a Home Passport, or delete your account and everything in it at any time.
